Fengxian

Seaside in Fengxian District

Shanghai's southerly Fengxian District, with a population of just over one million, is comparatively rural and appreciated locally as a semi-rustic retreat and seaside resort. The district's largest town is Nanqiao, whose attractions include Guhua Park 古华公园, and Sannu Temple 三女岗, which commemorates three heroines of the ancient Wu Kingdom.

Fengxian's popular Bihai Jinsha 碧海金沙 ('Blue Sea, Gold Beach' or 'Sunny Beach') resort is based around one of the largest artificial beaches in China, with over 80,000 square meters of sand. Expect large crowds at holiday times.
