National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC Shanghai)

Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center 国家会展中心 is one of the largest exhibition halls nationwide dedicated to holding significant exhibitions and conferences on a wide range of topics. It is the venue where the annual China International Import Expo (CIIE) is held.

The construction of this majestic compound was started on 26th December 2011 with the co-effort made by the State Ministry of Commerce and the municipal administration, with a total budget of 16 billion Chinese Yuan.

After a remarkable pace of construction progress, the project was officially completed 34 months after the groundbreaking, putting its debut to the public on 19th October 2014.

Occupying a total ground area of 1.5 million square meters (370 acres), the CIIE has its exhibition area divided into an indoor area of 500,000 square meters (123 acres) and an outdoor area of 100,000 square meters (24 acres), which allows great visiting capacity for significant exhibitions.

The construction of this giant four-leaf clover structure has practiced a set of cutting edge technologies to facilitate the exhibition visiting process, such as high traffic-flow balancing, eco-friendly solution, extensive coverage of public WiFi, and 5G signal coverage.

In the center of the compound, a parade of restaurants and cafes cycling around the central plaza gives people a wide range of options to fortify them with refreshments during the exhibition visiting. In addition, the 5-star hotel InterContinental lying in the southwest wing building fills in the gap of accommodation with a set of high-end amenities.

Access to CIIE can be convenient by metro line 2. For those visiting by automobiles, the expressways of Songze Avenue and Jiamin Elevated Highway provide great accessibilities to CIIE as well as to the other city centers.
