Jinmao Tower (Jin Mao Plaza)

This postmodern pagoda of concrete, steel and glass stands 421 meters tall. All of its proportions are derived from China's lucky number 8. Its 88 floors are divided into 16 segments, each one an eighth shorter than the segment below. The structure is built around an octagon-shaped shear wall and surrounded by 16 exterior columns as well as eight two-story high trusses. Occupying the topmost floors is the Grand Hyatt Hotel, whose famous barrel-vaulted atrium spans 31 floors. It's absolutely gorgeous. At the top, you'll find Cloud Nine, a lounge popular for its jazz music and city views.
